Our soccer team played in the regional finals of the Copa Coca Cola cup in Zwelithe, Hermanus on the 11th March, 2011 and made us very proud when they won the Overberg regional competition.
In the first match they played against a much bigger Grabouw team. Our boys maintained their cool and with brilliant play kept the boys of Grabouw at bay. A goalless first and second half lead to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. Again our goalie kept his cool . A blunder from Grabouw let our boys through to the final against the renowned Qhayiya Secondary School of Hermanus.
The Academia Sharkies, however was not distracted because of big names and beat Qhayiya 1-0 in regulation time.
We will play in Cape Town representing our district and beloved school in the Western Cape provincial finals on the 26th March. Well done and best of luck boys!
