Although the fledgling library opened its doors less than three months ago, many donations have already been received.

The latest donation came from Deon Meyer, the popular South African author who donated a set of his books to the library. Deon signed each book individually. Popular Mechanics also donated a year’s free subscription to their magazine. This is in conjunction with a donation of a year’s subscription to Oprah and Car magazines by an anonomous donor.

Two Kindle ebook readers were taken into use by the library in December. Numerous books and magazines were received from donors all over Gansbaai including the deputy Mayor Pieter Scholtz and his wife, Ans.

Donations like this greatly assist the library in its aim to improve and cultivate literacy and a love of reading amongst the Academia learners, but there is still a long road ahead before it can compete with the best school libraries. So please keep on helping!
